On Sunday the 27th of September, I'm riding solo in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember.
Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that.
So, before I press my tweed and polish my boots, I'm asking you to join us in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
Lots more information here
Last year we sponsored the local Bournemouth & Pool ride and where able to take part with hundreds of riders. We also had a stand at the end of the ride to meet the riders and offer personalisation that the riders had pre-ordered or ordered on the day.
We had a great time despite the British weather.
This year we were hoping to raise further awareness and raise a bunch more money for the great causes of the DGR which are becoming more commonplace in these difficult times.
This year won't be exactly as planned but we are doing what we can and hope to be a part of a very different, but equally special and amazing global event.
I for one cannot wait to get out on the bike and see who's about. The weather also looks great.
What we are doing this year
I am lucky enough to have some very good friends, who themselves doing some amazing things for charities dear to them.
I am conscious of asking people for money because there is (thankfully) a lot of great fundraising. As a business that can make stuff, we thought it best to use this advantage and develop a few products that riders and dapper gents would like. We feel like there is a nice synergy between what we do and the DGR.
We are not a big business but every little helps. As we grow and raise awareness of what we are trying to do, naturally we will be able to donate more.
We have made a new shape keyring and offering in black this year to mix it up. This is exclusive to Bournemouth & Poole riders. Maybe we should make it for all riders next year?
We have made the keyring with British veg tan leather, traditionally de-bossed and supplied with solid brass split ring & stud. We are offering complimentary personalisation. 60% of all keyring sales will be donated to the DGR charities. We will also offer the original keyring from last year.
We are offering a 20% discount to all DGR riders: DGR2020.
Please note the 20% discount is not available on the keyrings as we are donating such a high percentage to the charity.
We are also open to product ideas and fundraising ideas? We are keen to do all we can with what is available to us.
We would love to see some pictures of your bikes and with your products. I will attempt to capture some of my ride this year. I rode last year on my Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850. It's a lovely bike but... this year i'll be on my 200cc mountain cub. I won't be leaving anyone at the lights but it's great fun to ride about town or anything up to 50mph. Starts on the 2nd kick most days so hopeful for a good start to the ride on Sunday the 27th September.
We will share 10% of the sales turnover from any DGR sales using the discount code. This will be in addition to offering 20% discount to all DGR riders: DGR2020.
Have a great ride.
