FAQ

GENERAL

We certainly did. Man Gun Bear was our original name when we launched in 2014, up until 2022 when we rebranded. It was named after a drinking game founder Tony played at university and never really had anything to do with guns at all (or bears for that matter), but as the years went on we realised that the name didn’t match up with our values and what we stand for, so we decided it was time to drop the gun. Everything else about our brand remains the same and if you come across something online about ‘Man Gun Bear’, chances are it’s in reference to us. You can read more about the rebrand here.

Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. We always ask you to double (triple) check your order before submitting because we copy everything exactly and take your work for it that the personalisation reads how you want it to, but if you have spotted a mistake we’ll always try and help to rectify it where we can. Just give us a call or email as soon as you spot the error and we’ll try to amend it before it gets to the workshop. If we’ve already made a start with your order there will be a charge to make any changes, we can discuss this with you should the need arise.

All our leather is sustainably sourced from suppliers here in the UK. We predominantly use vegetable tanned leather, which is prepared using centuries-old traditional methods and natural, environmentally friendly tanning techniques. Our leather is a bi-product of the food and dairy industry and comes from responsibly managed farms within Europe.

We don’t stock any faux leather right now but it’s something we’d be open to if and when we can find a high quality, durable and natural alternative. We know leather isn’t for everyone but some of the reasons we love to work with it include its lasting strength, its natural characteristics and the fact that it's biodegradable. Lots of the faux leathers marketed as “vegan” at the moment are poor quality and heavily synthetic, which means they are polluting to produce, won’t last as well and won’t break down naturally. We’re on the lookout for something better that aligns with our commitment to sustainability - we’ll be sure to let you know when we’ve found it.

Generally speaking, no, but if there’s something specific you have in mind please get in touch and we’ll see if it’s feasible. Our stamped leather products are only available in the font shown in our product photographs because they’re made using traditional brass stamping plates that are a fixed size and shape. There is a little more flexibility with our engraved products but we tend to advise a traditional serif font as it makes for more consistent spacing, especially for our cufflinks.

DELIVERY

If your estimated delivery date has passed and you’ve not received your order please get in touch with the Man & Bear team and we’ll take a look into its whereabouts as soon as possible. We are reliant on delivery companies and our advertised delivery dates are only estimates so please bear with us while we track your order down.

We offer two-day express delivery for an additional £4.95. Express orders will be dispatched the next business day and will be sent with Royal Mail 24 Hour Tracked Delivery. So, if you order on a Monday we’ll dispatch your order on Tuesday for delivery Wednesday. Please note we are closed over the weekend so any orders placed between Friday-Sunday will be dispatched the following Monday.

If you’ve made a mistake or need to change your delivery address please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to update it before your order leaves us. Unfortunately once the order has left the Man & Bear workshop it will be too late to amend the details.

Yes we do, we offer both standard and express international delivery options at checkout. Standard delivery orders are sent via local mail and arrive in most locations within 7-10 days. If you need your order sooner you can upgrade to express delivery provided by DHL. Express international orders are dispatched within two business days and almost all global destinations are reached within a 1-3 day transit time. Please note that all delivery dates are estimations and are not guaranteed.

If you are overseas, particularly in the EU, you may have to pay additional customs fees and import taxes when your Man & Bear order arrives in your country. Please note, Man & Bear are not responsible for any additional fees that may apply and these will be at the expense of the customer.

RETURNS

Man & Bear accessories are made to order and personalised just for you, which means they cannot be resold in the (unlikely) event you change your mind. For this reason, any products that are personalised or custom-made are non-refundable and cannot be returned. If you change your mind about a product that’s not personalised, please contact us within 14 days and we’ll talk you through the best way to return it to us. Please note, return postage will be at the customer’s expense unless otherwise agreed.

All items are thoroughly checked for quality control before they are sent out to you so it’s very unusual for there to be any faults upon arrival, however on the rare occasion that something has gone awry please be assured that we’ll look into this for you as soon as possible. The best thing to do is send us an email with your order number and a picture of the fault and we can discuss the best way to resolve it.

Leather is a beautiful natural material, full of character and history. Unique marks and scars are completely normal and, in fact, encouraged. We love how they make each piece different. We wouldn’t ever send you something that we wouldn’t be proud to own ourselves but if you are concerned just shoot us an email and we’ll be happy to take a look for you.

PRODUCTS & CARE

Don't panic, tarnish is a completely natural process for brass or bronze products and a quick polish will sort them out right away. Visit our care page for guidelines and a video to show you how to polish them.

Our leather is high quality, durable and long-lasting, however as it is a natural material it does require some after care. Please visit our care page for advice on how to look after your Man Gun Bear leather item.

You can purchase refills right here on our website. Just click the link or search MGB057 in the search bar. We also sell refill cartridges for our notebook pen/pencils.

We’ve chosen a plain paper notebook insert because it’s said to promote creativity and help you process ideas. A wise teacher of Tony’s once said that lined paper puts constraints on your thoughts whereas plain paper allows your mind and musing to be completely free flowing - and who are we to argue? For this reason we only stock plain paper notebooks but our journal covers are a standard A6 size so you should be able to source a lined paper version elsewhere if you prefer.

All our collar stiffeners are 60mm in size. From our research we’ve found that this is the perfect length - they comfortably fit the standard pocket length used by the majority of shirt manufacturers and equally well in a collar that is just a fraction longer.
